This is a very old post...but nonetheless I need to tell this story. About two or three years ago I went to one of these ridiculous "interviews" where about 10 other people plus myself were herded into a group interview session where this man who could not have been older than 19 began telling us that we were soon to become knife salesmen and women (if we were lucky enough). I began to sense what a scam this was at this moment, or at least how ridiculous it was. Throughout the talk, he rambled on about how Vector has been the top sales company for however long and blah blah blah. Anyway, when he asked this kid who was sitting next to me (who I had said a few words to...clearly as confused about the whole ordeal as I was) about "who has been the number one sales company for (this many years)," the kid simply replied "I don't know," clearly not paying any attention. So the 19-something year old tool-bag tells him "Cut-Co..." to the kid's astonishment he says "Cut-Co...Who?" Turns to me and asks "what the fuck is Cut-Co." At this point I just lost it. All hell broke loose and I could not stop laughing for the life of me. I finally drew my laughter to a stop for the tool-bag to present his products for about 30 more seconds until the tidal wave hit one more time and once again I lost it. To wrap it up, I was kicked out of the interview and I laughed my way all the way back to my car. CUTCO IS A RIPOFF DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Hahahaahaha it still makes me laugh.

WOW.... ok, Cutco is NOT an easy job to get, i went in for an interview me and 10 other people... after the first interview they do a small presentation that shows the quality of the knifes with the scissors, and cut a penny for you... then they do a second interview asking you questions that test your personality, if you walk in there the THIRD time ( i was the only one left by this time) you got the job. ok... as for the part where you have to sit in training and not get "paid"... you get paid in COLLEGE CREDITS!!! so yeah if thats not enough for you because the training is actually a CLASS... then you dont have any perserverance. YES, you do pay for your Cutco set, this way if you take off with it this is VERY EXPENSIVE and VERY HARD to make material, so if you cant make a 75% discounted deposit on knifes that will forever be sharpened, and cleaned with a FOREVER GUARANTEE that you will never have to buy ANOTHER knife EVER agian... yeah its just not for you because your not trying to make an INVESTMENT. I get paid JUST TO SHOW PEOPLE MY KNIFES its a 45min. presentation and 80% USUALLY BUY AT LEAST ONE!!! and are NEVER DISSAPOINTED, ever heard you get what you pay for??? well, if you were to go into the bargain store such as target or walmart, you can find something similar to cutco called hinkles, there are a lot of differences between them but, hinkles is the number one top selling company in knifes. but CUTCO IS HALF THE PRICE. SCAM????????? if you dont have time to go out and show people what you learned and got college credit for, and get paid 15bucks per presentation, thats why your stuck reading this. i am a single mom of an 18mo. old, i started this job and i didn't know what i was doing EITHER. but let me tell you something, if you are where i am, and you can put forth 145 to your FUTURE.... then put forth the damn work too! you get 10 knifes ($550 worth) for 145.... you do the math, look the reason that you need to buy the knifes is NOT because its a freggin scam ok, these knifes are so good, that you HAVE TO demonstrate them for people to BELIEVE YOU!!! if i put these knifes in a box put a sale price on it and said "these scissors can cut through pennys" and "your table knife can cut through leather" they would believe me like you do right now with all these "scam comments" so this is why CUTCO is the top selling company outside of stores. any more questions, go to a freggin job interview. As for me, my movie is over, and i have to go to bed, i have 6 presentations to do before my daughter gets out of daycare (15x6=$$$90bucks your NOT making) GOOD LUCK AND HOPED I COULD HELP!

I don't feel that Vector is a scam by any means. I admit that a job at Vector is not for everyone. Some people are able to work in sales and some are not. From my experience I do feel that they do try to give a lot of people chances to succeed with the company, and it's up to them after the training process if they want to stick with it or not to try and give up. This is a funny video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9xcthpzXCY

Thanks for the heads up. I just graduated a couple days ago, and at our graduation ceremony, there were bunches of people handing out these envelopes that had towere from Vector Marketing. I called the next day, and My interview was almost exactly the same as yours. I got a weird feeling about it, because like you stated, the area as unbelievelably bare and ratty, and to me, seemed very unprofessional. However, I wanted to wait to reserve judgement until I went through the training and see what goes on with my own two eyes. Thanks to you though, I will be much more cautious and more analytical when going there.

I worked for Vector for about four days, and sold relatively well on all my appointments, even though they were to simpathetic friend's parents. Granted the product is good, it's the fact that you guys (Stephen for example) keep going on these websites to promote vector. After feelings extremely uncomfortable morally and the fact I didn't like the overly "postive" attitude the employees had, I was curious in seeing others opinions. I happened to see "successful" employees of vector trying to promote vector as if it was a GREAT oppurnity to a SEA of people who felt the same way i did. PLus most of the stories have a connection. Secretaries are required to convince you too come in that day speicifically. The poeple at my interview seemed really smart, yet the people in my training (including myself) seemed distant and had social problems....AHHHH i hate fucking vector, you guys are a large clump of former naive students spitting out the marketing ways...Bill Hicks said.....if you are in marketing or business, do us a favor...Kill yourselves...you are the producers of evil...
